We helped you winterize your lawn equipment in the fall, so here are some tips to ensure your equipment will be up and running optimally this spring.

Change the oil. Replacing the oil and oil filters is essential to keeping your lawn equipment running smoothly. We do this for you in our seasonal service but if you insist on doing it yourself, ensure when you’re changing the oil to use the recommended viscosity outlined in the owners manual.

Lubricate all those moving parts. Lubricate the wheel bearings and any other moving parts. Ensure to follow the instructions in the owners manual and remove any excess dripping oil.

Time to put that battery back in. If your lawn equipment is battery powered your battery has probably been properly stored over the winter. Now it’s time to make sure your battery is all charged up so you can re-install it and get to work! Equipment won’t start? It could be time for a new battery. Kooy Brothers has a large parts department with thousands of parts in stock at all times to help you out.

Didn’t do that tune-up that we suggested back in the fall? Now is the time. Schedule your spring service appointment with Kooy Brothers service department; open Monday to Saturday. We can help you with changing your filters, sharpening blades, replacing trimmer heads, checking tread on wheels, replacing spark plugs, etc. Unlike small backyard shops, we have a huge variety of parts in stock. If by chance we don’t have your part, we place orders for parts EVERY DAY no matter how small the order is, this ensures our customers get their equipment up and running as quickly as possible.

Fuel it up! If your equipment is gas powered and you drained your fuel before storing your equipment for the winter like we suggested, it’s time to fuel it back up. Make sure the gas you use is new gas, not gas you saved and stored over the winter. Old gas is often the culprit for a “broken” lawn mower. We recommend using premium gas to prevent a gummed up carburetor.

Maintaining your lawn equipment makes it run smoother, longer. Bring your equipment in and we can it summer ready for you, or we can provide the parts you need so you can do it yourself.
